Temecula Local Guide: Rancho Highlands
Nestled in the Temecula Valley is the community of Rancho Highlands. Built in the late 1980’s, it is the concept of three different developers with home styles ranging from Cape Cod to Mediterranean, and the convenience of three separate entrances. Consisting of 406 homes, amenities of the community include two parks and swimming pools, basketball and tennis courts and a spa. Centrally located off Ynez Rd., Rancho Highlands is close to the 15 Freeway and Rancho California Rd. Enjoy a meal at Pat & Oscars or continue on to Temecula’s well-known wine country.
Schools Near Rancho Highlands
Temecula Valley schools rank 9 out of 10 in the GreatSchools rating system. The schools in the Rancho Highlands district are Vail Elementary, James L. Day Middle School and Temecula Valley High School. The principles at each school spend a great part of their day in the classroom because the District believes taking an active role is vital to exceptional education. In addition, there are seven private schools and six charter schools available to residents.

Things to do in Temecula, CA
If you’re a wine connoisseur, you must visit the wine country. Boasting over 35 wineries and 3,500 acres of top producing vineyards is Temecula’s wine country. Take a tour and enjoy wine tasting amid beautiful settings. If you love golf, there are nine golf courses, including an SCGA Member’s Course next door in Murrieta. Try your luck and visit Pechanga Resort and Casino, California’s largest casino. For a touch of nostalgia, visit Temecula’s Old Town. Enjoy the 1890’s buildings and a wealth of shops and restaurants. For the kids, Mulligan Family Fun Center in nearby Murrieta is a must.

Opened in 1999, The Promenade Mall has many upscale stores and restaurants such as Sephora, Williams-Sonoma, Abercrombie & Fitch, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro and Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que. There is also a Walmart Super Center, Trader Joe’s, and a wealth of shopping centers, major grocery stores and restaurants.
Health
In 2013 the brand new Temecula Valley Hospital is scheduled to open. It will be a five-story complex with 140 beds, all private rooms and an ICU with 20 beds. There is also Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta and the new Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta. In addition to hospitals, there are numerous clinics, private physicians, dentists, cosmetic surgeons and a host of other healthcare professionals.
